Breanna is the owner and head IBCLC at The Mama Mantra™.
"The Boobie Ninja"
After receiving her BSN from Kennesaw State University in Georgia and sitting for her R.N. boards, she began her career as a Registered Nurse on a Cardiovascular Pulmonary Unit at an Atlanta hospital for 1 year. From there, she followed her heart to Women's Services where she worked as a Mother/Baby R.N. for 2.5 years. That is where she fell in love with helping moms with breastfeeding their new babies. Her passion for helping with breastfeeding and educating led her to pursue becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). She began practicing as an IBCLC in August of 2014 at another Atlanta, GA hospital (most often the busiest baby-having hospital in the country) and never looked back.
Breanna, her husband and 2 pups moved to Austin, TX in January of 2016 where she began working at a local hospital as an inpatient IBCLC. Her passion for getting into the community to provide education and in-home visits led her to start The Mama Mantra™ in Spring of 2016, a dream that was a couple of years in the making. Breanna is determined to provide the most exceptional care in the Austin, Texas and surrounding area and really loves what she does. Breanna was nominated as one of the best IBCLCs in Austin in 2016, 2017 and 2018. She has won the Austin Birth Award for “Best IBCLC/Lactation Consultant Practice” in both 2017 and 2018. Breanna and her husband welcomed their first child in March of 2019!
In 2017, Breanna decided to take on a promising IBCLC student. For one year, Breanna trained and mentored Bethany Bond. Her passion, skill and genuine excitement for the field of lactation was very evident, even early on. Breanna is excited to welcome her to the team starting February 2019!
Meet Our Newest Addition to The Mama Mantra Family!
Bethany received her degree in Nutritional Sciences from Texas Tech University and completed her dietetic internship from the Department of Health in South Carolina, concentrating in diabetes education and dialysis. Passionate about disease prevention, Bethany started researching one of the best and earliest methods of that, which is through breastfeeding! Inspired by her mother who instilled in her a passion for health and child development, she decided to pursue lactation education in 2016.
In 2017 she began the online lactation program with University in California of San Diego while completing her clinical hours with Breanna. She became a Certified Lactation Education Counselor (CLEC) through UCSD and then acquired her IBCLC certification in June 2019. She is enthusiastic about supporting and educating mothers during the postpartum period, and is also in the process of becoming a postpartum doula with DONA. In addition to loving on little babies and mamas, Bethany enjoys international travel, indulging the variety of “foodie” opportunities that Austin has to offer, all things crafting and sewing, and other creative outlets.
